Our H-Power Tower, was deployed at a Kier construction site in Plymouth where it generated clean power

Sustainable construction in action

The H-Power Tower rental successfully replaced power previously provided by an on-site diesel generator, thereby helping to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the construction site whilst also lowering emissions of air pollutants.

Replacing diesel generation

The site identified for the fuel cell deployment was Plymouth City Council’s new crematorium, where Kier was appointed as the main contractor. It is part of Kier’s and Plymouth City Council’s goal to achieve their net zero targets.  The fuel used to run the H-Power Tower was supplied as green hydrogen, that’s hydrogen produced using zero emissions renewable power.

Testimonial

"We are delighted to be working with AFC Energy on this pilot project. The generator is an important step towards the reduction of our carbon footprint and demonstrates how this can work in construction. Innovations such as this are essential to help all of us to achieve our carbon reduction targets and we are keen to embrace new sustainability supporting technologies on our construction sites "
